Meet Jose from Guatemala...

...designer of many of our jewellery pieces. Jose is descended from the Maya, as are his colleagues, Javier and Marlo. He has founded his own business in Guatemala based on both traditional and his own more contemporary jewellery designs. He is currently using any profits to pay for the business course he is now studying and for Javier's computer training course. He enlists and trains local Mayan women to bead his jewellery designs by hand, most of who have already learnt beading techniques from their forebearers. He also passes business on to local families and co-ordinates orders for them. It is a co-op of sorts, where the workers are well treated and well paid... and it is exclusive to Mundo Maya in Australia!
